Milk for cats

Hello All:

If you were not aware, let me tell you that cats can’t digest Lactose, therefore, they should not drink regular milk. I buy lactose free milk for my feral cat colony as it provides them another food option and it is not too expensive. However, a lactose free milk can be used to feed a domestic cat that is having problems to go to sleep. For example if the kitty is hipper and meows all night, it is obvious that something is wrong. But if you can’t figure it out until the next day to take your fur friend to the vet, try warming up (lukewarm) a small amount of lactose free milk and serving to the kitty. This is usually well accepted by all cats and the warmth can help calm down the kitty and hopefully both of you can sleep. It is important to take to a veterinarian nonetheless to check and see if the kitty has other issues that causes her to be hipper and meow at night. Friskies also has kitten milk in small carton containers and every cat lover should have that in your pantry for any emergencies. I hope my tips are helpful to you and if so, please let me know. Thank you!
